The history of the demolished church in Kazan.

In the beginning of the 19th century, the church of Sergius of Radonezh was built in the bell tower by merchant Lev Krupennikov, consecrated on 9 May 1839. He also furnished the church with icons and utensils brought from Moscow.

Colonel Ivan Rodionov, killed by Pugachevs, was buried in the fence of the church. His widow A.N. Rodionova donated an inheritance for the establishment of the Institute of Noble Maidens in Kazan, which became called Rodionovsky (now Kazan Suvorov College).

On the site of the demolished churches on the project of the architect Baron G.V. Rosen was built the new largest church in the city, which was consecrated on October 14, 1890. The temple had three thrones: the main one - in honor of the renovation of the temple of the Resurrection of Christ, on the right side - the origin of the Honest Trees of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, on the left - All Saints. The church had five domed domes. The corner drums were intended for bells.

In 1939, the Resurrection Cathedral and the old bell tower were destroyed and in their place the building of the chemical faculty of Kazan University was built on the corner of Kremlin and Lobachevsky streets.
