Russian Batalist Painter - Sverchkov Nikolay Egorovich.
Sverchkov Nikolay Egorovich was born into the family of an employee of the court stables of the Ministry. He began drawing early and quickly achieved notable successes, especially in depicting horses he had loved since childhood. His father, seeing his 9-year-old son’s penchant for drawing, assigned him to the Educational School at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1827-1829), but after a year and a half Nicholas was forced to discontinue his studies due to illness. In the future, Sverchkov seriously engaged in artistic self-education, studied the works of masters of painting, constantly drew, especially liked to depict scenes with horses, achieving great success in this.
From 1844, his works on the themes of the Russian folk life began to appear at the annual academic exhibitions, soon they attracted general attention.
In 1852 for the picture «The Landowner`s Three crosses the horse-drawn train», received the title of academician. For another significant picture - «A heavy crew with passengers, traveling on a hot summer day», was awarded, in 1855, the rank of professor. By this time, he had gained fame, drawing thoroughbred horses, dogs, hunting scenes, Uhur three, genre stories with the participation of horses among the winter landscapes.
