History of the Evangelical Street of Kazan.
While the axial for the Staro-Tatar settlement was and is the current street Gabdully Tukaya, the present street Tatarstan became «gates» and «center» Staro-Tatar sloboda, and «highway» in Novo-Tatar sloboda. In Zabulachee, on one side of the street, the Sennaya Bazar on the same square, the shopping center of the settlement, and later in 1849, there was also a cathedral Sennaya Mosque (now the Nurulla Mosque). In Zakabanya, on the other hand, there were Otchuchevaya and the new main cathedral mosque Marjani and the houses of the richest merchants.
In 1769, at the very beginning of the present street Tatarstan was built the Church of the Four Evangelists, the street was renamed Evangelical and was so named until 1924. In 1876, the Kazakov Mosque was built on Evangelistovskaya Street at the intersection with Malaya Meshchanskaya (now Sara Sadykova Street). In the second half of the XIX century in the status house of 14 located rooms (hotel) «Bulgar», where the poet Gabdulla Tukai lived and wrote.
At the end of the 19th century, there were two routes along the street (Central Circular and Yekaterina Lines), first the Kazan Konka, and then the Kazan Electric Tram, for which a power plant was built at the current site of the G. Kamal Theatre.
